Task:
Design a native Android app optimized for complete voice-command operation to optimize and simplify the daily workflow of KONE’s global maintenance teams.
Organizing and executing maintenance vsit for the elevators, escalators and such is difficult. If you wait until the equipment gets broken it can cause some significant delays and costs. KONE wanted to create a new way to help and guide their maintenance crew thru the maintenance visits. Obviously there were some challenges we needed to solve by using user-centric design methods.
The working environoment vary a lot
The actual maintenance work and the working surrounding can vary a lot. It can be a noisy building, busy airport, dark and dusty tunnel, high-rise building or maybe 200ft below the ground. As you’re supposed to fix the elevator you can’t hold the mobile device in your hand.
The solution was to create hands-free mobile app which can be controlled 100% with voice commands.
