MOBILE App DESIGN
Task:
Improve the current app concept and redesign the UX/UI to resolve usability issues and create a more intuitive and user-centric experience
Handling huge amounts of files and data with your mobile device is not always that easy. But it should be and that was the starting point when I started to help M-Files to improve the overall usability of their native mobile applications.
Simplifying the user paths and core flows
Obviously the biggest challenge was that those core features should be more straight forward to use. So first I mapped those flows with the goals that users tried to accomplish and tried to find the pain points. Luckily there was quite a lot of end-user insight available so those findings supported my findings.
Next step was to sketch the possible solutions and iterate them with the development team and their inhouse designers. After some fixes here and there it was pretty much following the best practices for mobile app interface design.
Quick project - quick results
This project was relatively small and quick to accomplish. The goals and needs were pretty clear so overall it was quite straight forward design work. During the fast project flow we decided to get our hands on both tablet and phone apps. As mobile design is overall my bread and butter that extension didn’t slow down the project at all. M-Files representatives were super happy for those improvements I was able to bring on the table. From my side it was a very fun project and it was really nice to work together with all those professionals from the M-Files’ side.
